David Copperfield is a biographical novel written by Charles Dickens, great English writer of critical realism, at a time when his creative powers had reached their height.

After reading,I am deeply impressed:

David Copperfield’ s father died six months before he was born he and his mother were ill--treated by his stepfather Mr. Mudstone . David was ruthlessly exploitated when he was a child labor in a warehouse. He was robbed on his way to his aunt’s and trudged over a long distance with hunger and thirst his childhood David suffered from persecution and witnessed of his friends and relatives the unfortunate fate. The novel depicts David’ s tribulation、nonstop struggle and the excellent character of his constant sympathizing of the weak graphically.

Under his aunt’scare, David graduated from a middle school and then studied hard, trying to gain some positions, such as lawyer, probationer, etc. Meanwhile he also strived for success of literature works. He had troubles with love, but gained happiness at last.

The novel also describes the love between Emily and the honest young man Ham. But Emily was induced by Steerforth unexpectedly, then eloped with him and was finally abandoned by him. Dannier spent lots of time and found little Emily. But poor Ham’s heart was broken, he stayed in Yarmouth.

On a stormy night, while a curly-haired young man holding desperately on the side of the ship and calling for help, Ham ran through the crowd to the edge of the water to save the curly-haired young man. But as Ham would have reached the ship, a high green hill of water appeared, and Ham was beaten to death by the great wave. It is coincidental thatMy Impression of David Copperfield
